I went to Minerva Middle School yesterday and LOVED it....as expected! My cooperating is AWESOME and I felt comfortable jumping right in and actually got to help a lot of students already. Mrs. Dowell's classroom is covered wall to wall with posters and student work. She has a bulletin board for "Random Acts of Kindness" that students are encouraged to post what good deeds they did throughout the week. Anyways, I'm super excited and can't wait to go back!
I really like this acts of kindness idea. I had a teacher in high school that had something similar to this. It makes students feel good and strive to do their best so that they can try and get up on the wall. I think some students are too competitive though and make it a competition to get their name up there and could possibly turn into a bad thing. Maybe there could be restrictions that we could put on it to avoid this such as everyone has to have their name up on there before others can get a second. I cant wait to go to my field placement tomorrow because I think I am going to really like it!
